Heartless fits as a description of the killer, as the second of the Raiford Chronicles series unfolds. It does not, however, describe the Reynolds extended family as they once again rise to this exciting and harrowing encounter with yet another serial killer. The love of this family for all is the overriding theme. A father denied his son's childhood seeks to make up for lost years, neglect, and abuse. Ray proves his heart is big enough to include another son. Larkin the angel can't wait to share her love with the newcomer. The investigation of the deaths of a US Senator, a judge and others, which at first misleading, and condemning, then focuses on the Heartless killer. It is indeed difficult to find a stopping place as each chapter moves smoothly and teases you into the next. Janet Taylor-Perry gets better as the Chronicles progress. Can't wait to read the next one.
