Delight thyself also
in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4
Synopsis
The lust for
adventure leads Rennin O'Rourke to read the memoirs of his ancestor and
namesake as he shares parallel exploits. His quest brings him to his wife, the
California gold fields, close encounters with death, a murder charge, The War
Between the States, and ultimately back to a mythical land where only
exceptional people may go.
Rennin meets
Rebekah Sinclair, and the two of them embark on a lifetime of love and
adventure as both are constantly compelled to return to a mythical place they
have only read about. Draconis calls them home.
My inspiration for Spirits' Desire comes or several places. The first source I want to talk about is seeking the Lord combined with my obsession with dragons. This is manifested on the cover, which once again is designed by Christopher Chambers. (jurodddesigns.com). The two dragons form three hearts, if you see the entire cover. Hearts are for the love of the O'Rourke family. Three of them entwined are representative of the Holy Trinity and the love of God. The two dragons are gold and silver signifying precious metals and trial by fire. Look closely, and you will see that the same scene as is on King Satin's Realm is the background for this book also, only at night.
Over the next several days, we will look at two real-life couples who are remarkable examples of true love and had a great deal of influence on me, the sway of history on me, and characters who struggle and yet maintain faith--much like me.
Spirits' Desire was a challenge to write since it tells two stories in the same book. Yet, I think it's my favorite book that I've written. I know my daughter, Mary Catherine D. Perry love this book. I hope it will become something you will not want to put down and will re-read again and again and again. As you can see by the medallion beside the cover, my readers must have liked it since it won the Preditors and Editors Award, which is voted on by readers. It was entered in the "Other" category because it is a little bit of several genres: fantasy, adventure, romance, historical fiction, all with spiritual and inspirational undertones. So, sit back and enjoy!
I am looking forward to this and to see the snippets you chose! Spirit's Desire is brilliantly written as I can't imagine anyone able to intertwine the old and the new so well as this author!
